No matter how long you plan to travel, reading books on the subject can help you prepare for your trip. Not only that but many of the books on shelves today are educational in addition to being informative. Some of these books feature practical modern information about these parks together with historic educational information helpful to students and history buffs.
One of the best books about National Parks is by the National Geographic Society. The book is called National Geographic Guide to the National Parks of the United States. Inside there are 80 maps and over 350 photographs that show you the many wonders of our country's parks. This book also includes a map of the United States with each of the 58 parks designated by a marking. In addition the parks are profiled in alphabetical order and a great deal of tourist information is provided.
The National Parks of America by Michael Brett is another top rated book you may want to read. This title profiles over 50 North American parks where you can go to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. One thing you're sure to like about this book is the wealth of information provided such as when to visit each park, where to find accommodations and what to do for fun. Most parks are the perfect spot for all kinds of outdoor activities like hiking and camping. This book is illustrated with gorgeous color photos and is a perfect supplement to the National Geographic book profiled above.
You may also want to take a look at the book America's National Parks by Paul Schullery. There are over 50 parks beautifully featured in this book. In addition to the breathtaking photographs in this book there is also a great deal of practical information regarding the featured parks. Not only will you learn things like where to stay, when to visit and what to do at each park, you will also learn important conservation information about the native plant life and wildlife.
You can find more national parks books at bookstores, libraries and at sites like Amazon and Ebay.
