National Animals

There are all kinds of national animals seen in American parks. The reason for this is because National Parks are federally protected. This means that on the 58 areas designated as National Parks, the wildlife can thrive and flourish. If you are heading to a park in an attempt to see animals, you should know that different parks have different residents. For example, the animals you'll spot at Denali National Park in Alaska are going to be different than those in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. One of the most exotic locations to see protected wildlife is Hawaii.

The first national park established was Yellowstone in 1872. To this day, Yellowstone National Park welcomes many tourists and is home to many animal species. You can spot bear, elk, deer and bison to name a small portion of the species here. Researching the indigenous species can help you stay on the lookout for your favorite animals. If you visit this park, have your camera at the ready and follow all safety rules. Animals should never be fed or approached as all of them have the potential to be dangerous or deadly. The most dangerous of all creatures are female animals with their young.

Another park packed with animals is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You'll find birds, reptiles, fish, mammals and insects of all kinds. There are black bears, 200 different bird species, fireflies, squirrels and so much more found here. Another park to consider is Wind Cave in South Dakota. This park is home to animals such as coyote and elk. Also found here are bison, prairie dogs and all kinds of birds and insects. Like all national parks this one is a protected area where wildlife can thrive in its natural habitat.

The national animals of American parks are some of the main reasons people visit these protected areas. Before traveling to a National Park, research your destination and find out what to expect as far as animals and plants are concerned. Also, make sure you have all the necessary supplies for your trip including a camera to capture photographs of your trip. While you might not always get lucky enough to spot your favorite animal national parks still have lots of great things to see and do.
