List Of Us National Parks

The best place to find a list of US National Parks is at NPS.gov, which is the official website for the National Park Service. This service is run by the Department of the Interior at a federal level. When you first visit the site you will notice the map of the United States of America on the home page. You can click anywhere on the map to see the nearest National Parks. There are other features on the home page you might also find interesting. The most useful are probably going to be the links on the left which allow you to search for a park using certain criteria such as location or name.

The NPS site also has great information for students and teachers regarding the national parks of America. Whether you are planning a day trip, vacation or just researching a report this government website can be very helpful. Before even beginning your search for a full list of parks it may help to learn more about what they are in general. A national park is a piece of land designated by the government as a protected location. These parks are meant to serve as conservation areas for wildlife and nature.

In addition, national parks are also places for families to enjoy the outdoors. Many of them have fantastic features on site like museums, outdoor exhibits, hiking trails, biking trails, guided tours, camping areas and more. What you can expect depends upon the park you're visiting. For example, the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia is going to be very different from the Denali National Park in Alaska. There are parks in a number of states, with a small fraction of them being Arizona, Colorado, California, Maine, Texas and Wyoming as well as the aforementioned Alaska and Virginia.

A full list of US National Parks can be found on the NPS site. In addition, there are other Internet resources like Wikipedia that offer lists of the National Parks in America. With one look at the entire list you will see that the U.S. is filled with protected areas from coast to coast. There is no better way to experience the majesty of nature than to visit a pristine park where the natural ecosystem has been left to flourish and thrive. Thanks to the National Park Service, we are able to do just that.
