America National Parks

One of the most enduring features of our country are the multitude of America National Parks. All across the nation you will find parks, preserves and refuges protected by the federal government. No matter where you are in the U.S. there is likely an American National Park within reasonable driving distance. All parks are not created equal, however. And, each park has its own special charm. For these reasons and others many travelers choose to buy an annual pass that allows them admission to every National Park in the country.

At many parks you will find gorgeous scenery and abundant wildlife. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy at most parks including hiking, biking, camping, museums, outdoor recreation areas and much more. It really depends on your location. No matter what time of year it is, there is a park waiting to welcome you. In the springtime, consider a park in the southwest like Zion National Park in Utah. The summer is the ideal time to visit a park like Sequoia National Park located in California. As the fall approaches consider a trip to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, a prime spot to behold the bright autumn leaves. Winter is a prime time to go to a national park like Mesa Verde in Colorado, especially if you love to ski.

There are even parks in Alaska and Hawaii that attract plenty of tourists. Alaska has eight parks where you can experience the splendor of the landscape. Hiking, helicopter tours, boat tours to massive glaciers and even dog sledding are a few reasons to consider an Alaskan getaway. In Hawaii, you'll find nationally protected land on which lush tropical foliage and exotic wildlife can be seen. And of course there are beautiful beaches and warm, sunny weather to enjoy.

The America National Parks profiled in this article are only a small sampling of the many parks in the U.S. To obtain a full list of American National Parks you may want to visit the NPS.gov website which is the official online home of the National Park Service. This service is headed up by the Department of the Interior and is devoted to maintaining, protecting and educating the public about national parks in the United States.
